About Strength & Risks

Why this IPO looks interesting

03

Multi scaled, vertically integrated manufacturing platform

As of March 31, 2026, Symbiotec operated two industrial-scale API manufacturing facilities and had commissioned two additional manufacturing facilities, taking aggregate maximum chemical synthesis capacity to 584.67 MT, fermentation capacity to 700 KL and complex injectables capacity to 20 million vials. The company is among the few players in India possessing multi-scale fermentation capabilities capable of producing both high volume and low volume fermentation based products.

What investors should watch closely

01

High dependence on APIs

96.07% of revenue from operations in FY26 contributed by APIs business. The top 10 products were even more concentrated at 78.96% in FY26. Any fall in demand, pricing or production of a few major APIs can have a meaningful impact.

02

Customer concentration is high

04

Continuous investment in R&D

As of 31 March 2026, Symbiotec had three dedicated R&D centers and R&D activities were organised across organic chemistry, biotechnology and complex injectables platforms. R&D expenditure was ₹29.70 crore, or 3.42% of revenue, in FY26, ₹31.14 crore, or 4.14% of revenue, in FY25 and ₹20.51 crore, or 2.86% of revenue, in FY24.

05

Strong financial metrics

Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) adjusted for capital expenditure not yet commissioned was at 30.43%, 27.71% and 24.59% in FY26, FY25 and FY24 respectively. Net cash flow from operating activities were ₹174.59 crore in FY26, ₹47.26 crore in FY25 and ₹187.50 crore in FY24.

Regulatory risk with recent US FDA observations

In FY26, the company underwent 3 quality audits by regulatory authorities and 21 customer audits. The Pithampur Facility was inspected by the US FDA on August 14, 2026, and the inspection resulted in four observations, which the company has to respond to within 15 working days.

04

All manufacturing is concentrated in Madhya Pradesh

As of March 31, 2026, the company's Rau, Pithampur, Ujjain and Mhow facilities were all located in MP and also operates three dedicated R&D centres there. Any natural disaster in the region could affect multiple facilities.

05

The US market has become a bigger exposure

Revenue from operations from the US has increased from 4.02% in FY25 to 13.12% in FY26. Although the generic pharmaceuticals and related critical healthcare supply chains are excluded from the current US tariff framework, future tariffs or other trade restrictions could increase costs and reduce price competitiveness.

06

Raw-material dependence on China

The company imported raw materials equal to 26.32% of total expenses. Of this, imports from China alone were 23.88% of total expenses. In FY25, China accounted for 16.82% of total expenses, while in FY24 it was as high as 52.79% of total expenses. This exposes Symbiotec to geopolitical tensions, trade restrictions, tariffs, currency movements and supply-chain disruptions involving China.
