About Strength & Risks

Why this IPO looks interesting

Key positives investors may want to consider before applying.

01

Wide Product Portfolio

The company manufactures over 150 speciality chemicals and caters to over 1,600 customers across 69 countries. It is also one of the top five buyers of yellow phosphorus in India, which it uses to develop a broad range of phosphorus-based products.

02

Scale in Raw Materials

Largest importer of acetone from India from 2023 to 2025, which is used to manufacture a wide range of derivatives. It is also the sole producer of isophorone in the country.

03

Active In-House R&D

Research team of 37 members (4 PhDs and 25 chemists). They are developing 40 new products, with 9 already through pilot testing.

04

What investors should watch closely

Risk factors and possible pressure points around the offer.

01

Pending legal litigations

The firm and its promoters are involved in various criminal, tax and regulatory cases involving a total exposure of around Rs 9 crore. That includes 9 criminal matters between both parties, plus a recent May 2026 labour dispute that has not yet officially served them papers.

02

Idle capacity at Mahad plant

Even six years after opening, the Mahad plant is running well below speed, creeping up from just 13% capacity in FY24 to 44% in FY26. Between COVID delays, weak agrochem demand, and regulatory shutdowns, the site has bled roughly ₹50 crore over the last three fiscal years alone.

Strong customer relationship

Long-standing relationships with marquee customers including Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited, Auchtel Products Limited, Bharat Rasayan Limited, Carl Bechem Lubricants (India) Private Limited, CentiChem b.v., Clean Science and Technology Limited, Croda India Company Private Limited, Coromandel International Limited, and many others. Repeat customers accounted for ₹11,497.79 million or 93.28% of revenue in FY26.

05

Strong global presence

The company sells its products in 69 countries across six continents, including the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

03

Repeated pollution & safety violations

State pollution regulators have required Prasol to cease operations multiple times, including a 55-day shutdown at Khopoli in 2018 and a 160-day shutdown at Mahad following a toxic gas leak that killed one worker and hospitalised four in late 2023. The company is routinely cited for things like unmanaged coal ash, shoddy hazardous waste storage and half-operating treatment plants.

04

Cash flow squeeze

FY24’s operating cash of ₹116 crore fell to less than ₹50 crore in FY26. The business may be making healthy profits before tax, but cash is tied up in unpaid customer bills and unsold stock, leaving less day-to-day cash to run the business or fund growth.

05

Heavy off-balance-sheet exposure

The company has contingent liabilities of over ₹109 crore, which is nearly a fourth of its net worth. Most of that comes from ₹83 crore in open letters of credit, plus bank guarantees and disputed tax claims that could bite hard into finances.
